An evening of Steve Irwin

From the snake hunting adventure a couple weeks ago -- it ran this past weekend, I think. So, photos:
The urge to make Elmer Fudd jokes was overwhelming, let me tell ya ...Hey, hey, hey, he's got one!
Yeah, that there's a snake ... something interesting about non-venomous water snakes: their saliva contains an anticoagulant agent, so though they bite and the wound bleeds, it's really not harmful at all. Not that I'm suggesting you invite water snakes to come around and bite your silly butt ...
Safe snakes: under the water; dangerous snakes: on top of the water. Good thing to know.
Many thanks to Mark Bolding (photos: 3 right); Bob Baker, DVM, (photos: 1 left, 3 left, 4); Dr. Mike Loop (photos: 1 right, 2, 6); and Jack Wimbish (photos: 3 center) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham for letting me tag along.
